You will also have a short briefing with your driver-guide, for a chance to ask any questions.
Dinner and overnight at Gran Melia Hotel.
Day 2: Manyara National Park
After a filling breakfast, you will embark on your first game drive, at Manyara National Park.
This park may be small, but it offers unique opportunities to spot tree-climbing lions and groups of giraffes and elephants. You may visit the Manyara lakeshore and optional village walk around the small town of Mtu wa Mbu.
As you drive to your overnight accommodations, you will pass the iconic Great Rift Valley, with time to stop for photos at the viewpoint.
Arrive to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for dinner and overnight. You may want to arrive in the late afternoon, for a chance to catch the stunning sunsets in this area.
Dinner and overnight at Ngorogoro Crater Lodge .
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
Enjoy a full day of game viewing in the famous Ngorongoro Crater.
This area boasts the world’s largest concentration of predators and prey, which live together in an ecological wonder within an intact volcanic crater.
Some of the famous animals include: Crater lions, Black rhinos, elands, a huge number of zebras, hyenas, forest elephants, and elusive leopards.
In the late afternoon, ascend out of the Crater and continue toward Serengeti National Park. The wider Ngorongoro Conservation Area connects to Serengeti National Park, making this an ideal transition for this day.
There are no fences separating these areas, so you will enjoy game viewing throughout the drive to Serengeti, which may include elephants, giraffes and herds upon herds of gazelles across the “endless plains” of the Serengeti.
Dinner and overnight at Four Seasons Safari Lodge.
Day 4 : Mara River, Serengeti
After breakfast, continue further into Serengeti, heading toward the famous Mara River. Depending on the time of year, there may be animal crossings for the migration, or relaxed herds, enjoying the lush grass.
River crossings over the Mara are most likely to occur in the months of July, August and September.
Your overnight accommodations are perfectly suited for river-crossings and animal sightings during high season.
Dinner and overnight at Singita Mara River Tented Camp.
Day 5 : Mara River, Serengeti
Continue your Serengeti adventure with a full day game drive.
Wake early for the best chance at spotting cheetahs or leopards on the prowl. Option to depart at sunrise and return to the camp for a hot breakfast later in the morning.
Depending on animal movement, you Amy stay near the river, or drive to various areas of the Serengeti to see rhinos, prides of lions, or a mama cheetah and her cubs.
As this is your final night in the Serengeti, we recommend staying up and listening for the sound of lions in the far distance, as they mark their territory. A lion’s roar can be heard miles away.
Also, hippos are most likely to come out of the water at night, you may hear them munching on grass a safe distance from your tent.
Dinner and overnight at Singita Mara River Tented Camp.
Day 6: Serengeti to Arusha, Onward Journey
There are two options for this day; a leisurely morning with a game drive as you head to the nearest airstrip and take an aerial safari back to Arusha, or a full-day drive, which acts as a game drive, all the way. (Additional fees for flights apply).
A transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport is included in your booking, no matter which option you choose.
The Arusha domestic airport is a quick 1.5 hours from most Serengeti airstrips, allowing you plenty of time to visit the African Art Gallery or souvenir shops before your departure, if you choose to fly.
Alternatively, you could drive from Serengeti to Arusha, then continue on to Kilimanjaro International Airport, with game viewing throughout the drive. You will pass through Ngorongoro Conservation Area again, and have a chance to spot wild animals such as elephants, zebras, and gazelles.
Your guide will take you to the Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your return journey.
