6-Day Luxury Safari Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

A driver will meet you upon arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and facilitate your transport to the Arusha Airport for your charter flight to Kogatende Airstrip, Serengeti.

Your short 1.5 hour flight offers aerial views of some of the most impressive scenery in East Africa, including the Great Rift Valley from above, and parts of Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

You will fly into Northern Serengeti and land at Kogatende Airstrip, where your driver-guide will meet you and you may begin your first game drive.

Depending on the season, there may be herds of zebras and wildebeests making dangerous river crossings, or you may drive to look for lions relaxing in the tall grass.

River crossings over the Mara are most likely to occur in the months of July, August and September.

Your overnight accommodations are perfectly suited for river-crossings and animal sightings during high season.

Dinner and overnight at Singita Mara River Tented Camp.

Day 2: Northern Serengeti

After a filling breakfast, your full-day game drive begins.

Serengeti is a massive national park (14,760 sq kms), stretching farther than the entire country of Qatar.

Depending on the movement of the Great Migration, you might visit Mara or Grumeti Rivers to witness exciting river crossings, track big cats in Lobo Valley, or look for rhinos near Moru Kopjes.

Whichever you decide, you day is sure to be thrilling and memorable.

Day 3 : Central Serengeti

After breakfast, continue further south within the Serengeti, heading toward the famous Seronera area. 

This area is known for herds of animals and their predators year-round. The lush grass invites elands and zebras, and leopards, lions and cheetahs follow, camouflaged in trees or the dry grass.

You are also encouraged to stop by the Visitor’s Center to learn about the history of Serengeti.

Full Board (breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight) at luxury accommodations in Seronera.

Day 4 : Serengeti to Ngorongoro

Enjoy a leisurely morning and late breakfast at your accommodations.

After, you will begin driving from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation area. These two destinations are not separated by any fence, and animals move freely between. You are likely to spot animals throughout your drive, such as huge elephants and giraffes, to humble meerkats and warthogs.

Depending on your time of arrival, you may enjoy

Day 5 : Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire

Enjoy a full day of game viewing in the famous Ngorongoro Crater.

This area boasts the world’s largest concentration of predators and prey, which live together in an ecological wonder within an intact volcanic crater.

Some of the famous animals include: Crater lions, Black rhinos, elands, a huge number of zebras, hyenas, forest elephants, and elusive leopards.

In the late afternoon, ascend out of the Crater and continue toward Tarangire National Park. You will pass through the stunning Ngorongoro Highlands, the Escarpment and Great Rift Valley during this drive. You may pause at The Rift Valley Viewpoint for some must-have photos or have a short village tour or banana plantation visit in the community of Mto wa Mbu before continuing onward toward Tarangire.

Full Board (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and overnight at a luxury lodge in Tarangire area.

Day 6: Tarangire to Arusha, Onward Journey

Begin the day with an early morning drive in Tarangire National Park. Mornings are the best time to spot big cats such as leopards, lions and cheetahs.

In the late morning, return to the hotel for a luxury, hot breakfast.

Continue on an early morning afternoon game drive, before heading back to Arusha.

Depending on the time of your outgoing flight, you may visit a local African art gallery or do some souvenir shopping at a curious and crafts market.

Finally, your drive will bring you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
